Author
Melissa spent her childhood summers reading under a willow tree, ignoring her
sisters’ pleas to play kick-the-can. She was devoted to Nancy Drew, but made time for
non-fiction too. Her love of sun and sand was cultivated on the shores
of the “Big Lake” in Michigan (another great place to read while listening to the gulls overhead).
Her days at Alma College and later as a graduate student at the University of Detroit were spent honing her writing skills. She acquired 15 years of experience in marketing management for healthcare and insurance companies, but recently hung up her suit and heels to become a full-time writer. She still enjoys writing marketing copy for companies—check out her business website:http://thomasdubois.com.
Recently, her work has been acquired by Stories for Children, Learning through History and On Da Streets magazines and she is currently working on several books. An active member of SCBWI, she was first published through the Michigan Council for the Arts and the Grand Rapids Press. She is also a member of the Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association. She garners support through the not-so-exclusive but ever so delightful Caribou Critiquers, a group of writers who provide insight and support to one another.Melissa lives just north of Atlanta with her husband and terribly active
three sons. The rest of the clan includes two dogs, a bunny, and various
turtles, fish, frogs and birds. She still loves the water and gets to the
ocean whenever she can. When not writing she spends her time
detailing cars, chasing after her boys and reading in the sun.
